Cortona is an enchanting Tuscan town in the Valdichiana, or Chiana Valley, in the province of Arezzo in southern Tuscany and borders Umbria.   Cortona was the setting for the film “Under the Tuscan Sun”.   The town is enclosed by stone walls which date back to Etruscan and Roman times and sits on the top of a hill about 600 meters above sea level.   You will be charmed by Cortona’s architecture, mainly medieval and its historic steep streets full of character and atmosphere.  Cortona’s dominant position over the valley offers spectacular views from the town of the surrounding valley and mystical Lake Trasimeno – Italy’s 4th largest lake.  


The heart of Cortona is Piazza della Repubblica, where the bustling daily life of the Cortonese takes place.  There are many fine eateries all providing fantastic typical Tuscan cuisine.   In fact one of Italy’s oldest high quality bovine breeds is bred in the Valdichiana, so you must try a bistecca – Chiana steak!.  Famous great red wines are produced in the area, namely Vino Nobile from Montepulciano and Brunello from Montalcino.  All the wine bars in Cortona offer a wide selection of wines.  You will find a great selection of small shops, selling items from antiques, artisan craft shops, gastronomical products,  art galleries and of course gelato – ice cream !!     


The stunning 19 century Villa Nobile will be your accommodation for the 7 nights tour.   Located in the beautiful Tuscan counryside amongst  fields of sunflowers and shimmering olive groves, 10 minutes from Cortona.  Your  host  Raffaele Nobile has restored an impressive 19 century villa.  set in tranquil gardens with 4 acres of beautiful natural Tuuscan rural setting, with a tree lined avenue of cypress trees to welcome you.  The villa, complete with Moorish windows, creates an impressive landmark.  The villa has its own private pool measuring 13 m x 6 m, set in a tranquil spot in the gardens, where guests can relax sunbathing or take a dip in the pool to cool off after cycling.   Guests can dine or relax under the lovely shaded pergola close to the pool and watch the sunset with a nice glass of Chianti! The Nobile family have lived in Tuscany for many years, and are delighted to offer their home as your home in this stunning setting. 


Villa Nobile is perfectly centrally positioned with  famous towns such as Siena & Perugia 30 min, Montalcino 45 min, Pienza 25 minf Montepulciano & Arezzo 20 min, Florence 1hr,     


There  are 7  double rooms each  with their own ensuite bathroom, and are uniquely decorated in the Tuscan style.  Each apartment has its own private patio with alfresco table and chairs.  Groups of 2 and 3 cyclists can each share the apartments.  The alfresco pool and grounds can be enjoyed.

Breakfast and dinner is included in the accommodation price.  Each morning a healthy breakfast is provided including fresh croissants, cereals, yogurts and a selection of seasonal fruits.  Evening meals will consist of a variety of local  Tuscan cuisine, covering 3 courses and including wine/beer.  Villa Nobile aims to ensure only the best local produce are used.
